At Dixie Caverns in Salem, VA, we offer informative guided cavern tours throughout the day. We are open year-round, and tours last approximately 45 to 50 minutes. Formed over millions of years, the caverns are an awesome example of the wonders of nature.

Not many caverns in western Virginia are open to the public, but we’ve been in operation since 1923. The formations in each cave and cavern are unique. However, the temperature throughout is consistently 55 degrees all year long. 

We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes on the tour. Strollers are not permitted. While dogs are welcome on other parts of our property, they are prohibited from the caverns to protect the local wildlife.

Our local, family-, and woman-owned business also features a rock and mineral shop, an antique mall, and open campgrounds all year.
